As South Carolina’s capital, Columbia is the home to many major institutions— the South Caroline State house, prestigious secondary schools, several major universitites—yet tens of thousands residents face severe poverty and disenfranchisement. With a crime rate over double the national average and nearly 25% of households living below the poverty line, our city urgently needs intervention to improve life for everyone who calls Columbia home.
The Columbia Dream Center serves families in the Columbia area by striving to understand and meet both physical and spiritual needs. By delivering targeted services and onsite programs directly to disadvantaged neighborhoods, we bring lasting hope and transformation to local families.
Launched in 2024, the Columbia Dream Center began with the Adopt-A-Block program, which hosts neighborhood events and resource distributions to build relationships and uncover local needs.
By mobilizing the community to love your neighbor as yourself, we are continually developing programs to:
Eliminate hunger and provide essential care products.
Mentor and inspire at-risk youth.
Teach healthy financial habits.
Address the vast physical and social needs of our city.
Moving forward, we aim to establish a permanent facility to scale our services and meet these needs on a larger scale throughout our city.
